Please could we remind parents that if their child is unable to attend to school that a call is made to school or an email sent to explain the circumstances. This communication should be sent in advance of the school day starting at 8.45am so that an appropriate attendance code can be entered into the register. Taking a register is a strict legal requirement and codes are required to be accurate. If we do not receive a timely explanation an ‘unauthorised’ absence code is entered.
Please can we also remind parents that children arriving late (with no explanation) but before the register is closed in the morning receive a ‘late’ attendance code. If the child arrives late (with no explanation) after the register has been closed they receive an ‘unauthorised’ attendance code.
