ECO Schools

As a school we try to be as Eco friendly as we possibly can:

We encourage the children to respect and care for the world around them. With this in mind we promote care of the school and school grounds. The children tend vegetables and flowers in our outside areas, they feed the birds and look after the wildlife area.

The school successfully applied for and was awarded a Local Schools Nature Grant through Learning for Landscapes.  This fund is supported by the People’s Postcode Lottery.  The grant provided the school with nature products including nestboxes, bug hotels, a ghilli kettle, seeds and outdoor play books.  These products have been used to enhance the children’s knowledge, understanding and appreciation of the natural world around them and they help facilitate learning outside the classroom.

The school advocates ‘reduce’, ‘re-use’, ‘re-cycle’ and actively encourages children to recycle crisp packets, plastic bottles, bottle tops and cables. These items are passed to local charities who use them to reduce wastage and negative impacts on our local and wider environment and provide employment for adults who would normally not easily find employment.

We use natural resources and outdoor learning techniques to enhance our curriculum wherever possible
