On Wednesday the whole school visited Growing Local in Belmont. Growing Local is a community interest company that inspires and educates communities to grow, cook and eat local food.
The team at Growing Local provided practical and creative activities for our children, teaching them how to sow seeds, plant, tend to and harvest vegetables. The children learned how soil is made, why it is important and the impact that it has on plants and their growth. There was an opportunity to learn about compost and how it is made, including what we should and shouldn’t put on our compost heaps. We also saw an active wormery!
Everyone had such a relaxed and enjoyable time whilst learning new things in a hands on way.
Thank you Growing Local!
