The children have come back from the Christmas break and have been busy with our new topics for this half term. Â
In history we started looking at homes and the changes over time and created a timeline, using photographs of different rooms in the home in the past. Â The children spotted changes in some of the equipment shown in the images and talked about what they thought. Â
In mathematics the class are looking at money and using coins and notes in different practical activities from shopping in reception to solving problems in Year 2 with equivalence. Â
In English we are using the story of the High Street by Alice Melvin to use description and will be writing our own versions in a pop-up book….watch this space! Â Reception are working hard on using sounds and common words to read and show understanding of the texts they are reading and using their sounds to write simple sentences.
In computing we are looking at the use of commands and how ‘bad’ commands are not good when writing instructions. Â
In RE we considered the significance of the 6th January in the story of Jesus’ birth and the visit by the Wise Men.
