The whole of Key Stage 2 are given the opportunity, every year, to join with dances, singing and performances at the Courtyard Theatre. Year 5 and 6 children have the opportunity to join the children from across the HMFA on residential trips during the year.
The children are assessed at regular intervals throughout each year and at the end of each academic year to ascertain progress and inform future planning. At the end of Year 6, the children sit their Key Stage 2 SATs (Statutory Assessment Tests). These tests are marked externally. Parents are informed of the results and they are discussed at parents’ evening. The scores are also sent to the High Schools.
The whole school (with the exception of Reception) participates in swimming every Thursday in the Autumn and Spring term. They have the opportunity to earn badges and become more confident in the water.
Children in Key Stage 2 are also encouraged to read as much and as widely as possible. Membership of the Public Library service provides an excellent opportunity for children to have access to a wide range of fiction and non-fiction books.
