Many of you will have recently heard the very sad news of a primary school child fatality in a RTC outside a school in Monmouthshire. In recent months we have also been made aware of traffic incidents outside other Herefordshire schools where poor driving has resulted in damage to vehicles.
Again we would like to remind our parents of the importance of parking in a responsible manner which does not force pedestrians into the roadway or inhibit the view or journey of other drivers when approaching the school. It is important also that we respect access to our neighbours properties when parking for drop off and pick up, ensuring that their safety and access is not compromised and we should all drive at a speed commensurate to road conditions in the village and approaching the school.
Can we remind parents that they can park in the village hall car park and walk the final stretch to school. We all lead busy lives and many of us need to drop or pick up children and continue to other appointments but perhaps adding 10 minutes to our morning or afternoon routine to permit parking at the hall not only makes the village safer for our children and residents but it promotes a slower paced start or end to the school day and an opportunity to spend a quality few minutes chatting to one another.
