On Friday 16th March, Kings Caple welcomed local author Karen Wallace into school. Ms Wallace visited each class and undertook some age-specific work based on readings from some of her books. The children also came into school dressed in pyjama’s (which had been re-scheduled as a result of the previously planned World Book Day being snowed off on March 1st.)
In Class 1 for example, Karen read her book ‘The Crocodile’ and explored the text with the children by looking at the meaning of words in the text that are associated with crocodiles. Class 1 were then given the opportunity in class to write their own fiction or non-fiction books independently.
We would like to say a huge ‘Thank You’ to the PTFA who kindly paid for Ms Wallace to visit the school.
