Over the last academic year we have been working with Golden Valley Recycling and Reuse Group. The group supports a number of schools in the area to raise funds for classroom resources. Each school holds a recycling ‘drop off’ termly which often provides the school with resources in the first instance. Remaining items are then passed to the group and offered to the wider schools. Anything that is unwanted by schools is advertised on the groups social media page for a small price. The funds from this activity and from more general recycling of items such as cheese packets, Pringle tubes etc. are then distributed to the schools in the group.
So far this academic year Kings Caple have benefited from a selection of bikes and ride-on’s and £30.50 from our recycling ‘drop-off’.
The books that were generated from our drop off were ‘sold’ to Music Magpie and to World of Books which generated £26.07 and £36.98 respectively.
Thank you to all those that recycle at our drop-offs and to the staff (in particular Mrs Meredith) who sort the items, liaise with the group and generally make everything possible!
