In maths, pupils have been busy comparing and ordering 2- and 3- digit numbers and solving a range of problems on this.   Children have been positioning numbers accurately on number lines and have been investigating the mystery number from a range of clues.  They will move on to identifying odd and even numbers next.

In English, children have been identifying what a noun is and have been writing expanded noun phrases in order to describe something in more detail.  Pupils have written a character profile for the king in their model text, ‘The Papaya That Spoke’.  The children will be writing alternative endings for this story next and making changes to the original with innovations of their own.

In topic, pupils have located the world’s main oceans and have labelled the two hemispheres, paying close attention to the North and South Poles.  They have looked at photographic imagery of this harsh environment and have thought of a survival kit of their own to pack, if they were visiting this extreme terrain.   Children will be exploring the lives of the Inuit people next.

In science, children have identified different skeleton types and have labelled some of the most common bones in the human body.  Pupils will next conduct an experiment on measuring the difference in length between an adult’s bones and a child’s bones.

In computing, children have been using search engines to investigate which animals live in the Arctic and which animals live in Antarctica.

In PSHE, pupils have set individual targets for the forthcoming year.
