News from Class 1

Class 1 Sept 2020 childrens pictures
Year 1 and our new reception children have started the year and are already working hard and listening to everything they need to do.
The whole class have already started exploring the location around the school, looking at the buildings and different flowers and trees.  We have talked about the differences they can notice in the colours and how apples have developed on the trees in school.  In Maths, year 1 are looking at place value and checking they can order and write numbers correctly.  In English we have started considering how characters are described and behave in stories that are familiar.  All the children have looked at how to create a self-portrait and made a fantastic gallery.  We have begun to study aspects of our PHSE programme of study starting with Being Me in My World – exploring feelings, how to be kind and caring.  Reception are busy getting used to their new environment and friends and have shown us how amazing they are at listening and playing together.  They will soon be starting to learn their sounds and have been encouraged to talk about books and stories they know themselves or have listened to.
