It’s the start of another school year and it’s great to see the children looking so smart and happy each morning. We really appreciate the support that you give your children at home with reading, phonics, spelling and times tables – this makes such a difference in class. Thank you for the positive feedback on our new after school clubs system. This is working well. This week we have had a visit from local singer, April Shipton and a woodwind demonstration from our music teacher Heather. We will be celebrating Roald Dahl Day with George’s Marvellous Smoothies! We are also looking forward to our trips to Wagamamas.

Class 2
In class 2, we have been doing lots of place value activities in maths and will be extending our thinking though some Tara games.  We will be comparing and ordering 2- and 3- digit numbers, before identifying odds and evens.  In English, we have been learning our new model text ‘The King of the Fishes’ and created story maps to help retell the story, using some Talk for Writing actions.  Our focus this half term is characterisation and we will be writing some character profiles later on in the term.  We have started our topic ‘Extreme Earth’ and identified dangerous weather phenomena.  In PSHE, we have worked hard to create some class rules to make a charter.
Class 3
We start the 2018 academic year with a journey into all things Victorian! We have been studying the life of Queen Victoria and we have begun to look at the differences between the Victorian era and today’s world. In science we have been finding out about the digestive system and what happens to food once it enters our mouths! We will be going on a Victorian themed trip soon – watch this space!
