As many of you will remember, Mrs Hook (Sheila), was a wonderful friend and Governor at Kings Caple school who sadly passed away in 2022. Sheila was an avid supporter of Kings Caple with both her children and grandchildren attending the school. Mrs Hook really did represent the real essence of kindness, annually purchasing hyacinth bulbs to plant with the children, spending time with them and listening to them read and generally making sure that staff and pupils alike felt valued.
Her family donated a ‘Cup of Kindness’ to the school in her memory. The cup is presented annually to a pupil who has shown outstanding thoughtfulness and kindness to our school community. The cup was awarded to Clemmie a little while ago, who will be able to display it at home before returning it at the end of the year for the process to begin again, in perpetuity.
In such a fast paced world where sometimes acts of kindness are overlooked or absent, we at Kings Caple can make sure, through the memory and legacy of Mrs Hook’s Cup and the compassion of her family in presenting it to us, that the importance and role of kindness is recognised and never forgotten.
