Today the children celebrated World Book Day by dressing up as their favourite characters in books.  We had a selection of Harry Potters, Where’s Wally, Peter Rabbit, Umpa Lumpa’s, Cinderella, Florence Nightingale, Ninja Turtles, Matilda.

The whole school have written a story which each class contributed to. Class 1 started the story , class 2 continued it and class 3 finished it. You can read the story HERE. Each class enjoyed lots of book related activities. Mrs Harding shared her own story with each class and led activities based on the story.  Class 1 took the theme of the story and made ice cream cakes and the class also made book worm bookmarks and went on a reading scavenger hunt.  Class 2 role-played Mrs Harding’s story and wrote character descriptions. Class 3 shared their favourite stories.

The school gave a prize for the best costume – the Umpa Lumpa! and for the most extreme reading photo which was a child photographed in a wheelie bin!

We would like to say a huge ‘thank you’ to Mrs Harding for making the day so enjoyable for the children.
