This year, it is perhaps more relevant than ever for children to show their mum’s how much they mean (and of course dad’s on Father’s day later in the year!). Mum’s and in many instances grandmothers and other maternal figures along with dad’s and grandfathers have all helped children through the difficulties that arise as a result of lockdown, home learning and restricted social interaction.
We recognise the huge efforts that all Kings Caple mums and maternal figures have put in over the last couple of months and we would like to say a special ‘Happy Mothers Day’ and ‘Thank You’ to you all. We hope that you all enjoy your special day with your children. Where relevant we hope that you can also have virtual, digital or telephone contact with your own mother’s if they are not part of your permitted social support ‘bubbles’.
This year we will be limited in terms of what we are able to do and we expect you already have some ideas of what you can do together to celebrate this weekend but here are a few suggestions:
- Record a message to mum on a phone (get another adult to help and get them to give permission to use the phone if it’s not yours), telling them why they are so special;
- Make a mini garden on a tray or in a pot – you can use moss, leaves, twigs and small flowers that you find in the garden… think of what you could use as a pond, houses, animals, fences etc.
- Write all the things that you love about mum (or one another) on ‘sticky’ notes and leave them around the house;
- Make and enjoy breakfast together;
- Bake a favourite dish or cake or decorate biscuits;
- Make afternoon tea;
Whatever you decide to do, we hope you enjoy it. Take a photo of anything you make or activities that you do together and send it to the ‘admin’ email at school – we would love to see what you get up to!
