As the weather is getting a little better the children in Grasshoppers Group have been tidying up in the ‘nature’ area on the hard-standing at the front of school with Mrs Meredith. The children have tidied, swept and given a general spring clean to the area following the winter. They have weeded and prepared the planting pots and enjoyed spotting all the creepy crawlies around the bug hotel…of which there were many! They are now thinking about what they would like to grow this year.

Although there is no evidence of birds nesting in the boxes in this area there has been lots of bird activity as all the seed and feed has been eaten!

Some of the children worked with Miss Phipps to cut out last years raspberry canes and tie in this years, in the hope that we will have a good crop. The apple trees have been pruned and a large bed prepared for Mrs Fry to plant an extra large pumpkin!  We will have to wait and see how big it actually gets! The large bed needs some compost so if you have any at home that you would like to donate please let us know!
