Just a few ideas to get you thinking of things to do with children over the Christmas period (adult supervision is advised)
- Take your own Christmas light trail. Walk or drive around your local area to look at festive lights. Come home and design/draw your ideal light display for your home!
- Use clothes driers, pegs and sheets/blankets to make a den where you can cosy up and watch a festive film together
- Visit a church. Take some paper and crayons and take some textural rubbings from walls, paths and tree trunks. When you return home, cut them up and make a collage out of them.
- On a walk, forage for greenery, leaves and cones then arrange them in a jam jar as a Christmas decoration
- Bake some simple Christmas biscuits and decorate them with edible things from the kitchen. Or, make some chocolate bark… melt chocolate, pour onto greaseproof paper and sprinkle with your favourite treats (pretzels, tiny sweets, sprinkles, desiccated coconut, nuts etc. The more adventurous can make faces or artwork! Set in the fridge and break up into pieces, wrap or place in jam jars as simple gifts.
- ‘Pop’ some corn and thread onto wool to make a pretty garland for your tree.
- Use a clean jam jar and make it into a festive terrarium… pop in a small toy figurine, glitter, cones, tinsel etc. to make a festive scene for the table.
These are just a few ideas to get you thinking of your own!
