In maths, children have been busy developing written methods for subtraction. Â They have used either the number line method or columnar subtraction to calculate difference. Pupils have moved on to naming and exploring the properties of different 2D shapes, as well as finding lines of symmetry and right angles in familiar shapes. Â Children will investigate angles and determine which angles are greater than a right angle and which are smaller than a right angle. Â Pupils will also sort different 2D shapes depending on their properties.
In English, pupils have punctuated sentences with either a question mark or an exclamation mark, discussing when and in what context we should use each sign. Children have written wonderful information texts on a Polar animal of their choice, using their research from computing lessons to help write their fact files.  They were terrific!  We will move on to our hot writing task next, which will see pupils invent and create a new species of animal and they will write an information text on their own creation.
In topic, children have designed, constructed and evaluated their own igloos out of junk modelling equipment. Â Pupils were very creative with what they wanted to include in their designs. Â We will soon conclude our topic by discussing what we have learnt on the Polar Regions.
In RE, pupils have looked at special objects and what makes them special to us.
