We have made a great start to this year and all the children are making new friends with those who have joined us.  In English we have enjoyed listening and exploring the story of The Gruffalo, looking at descriptions and how to add adjectives to describe.  Reception children have started looking at sounds and are beginning to recognise and talk about where they hear a sound in a word.  In art we have started looking at making marks and lines, using different materials.  In music the class have really enjoyed listening to pieces of music with the theme of water.  We have talked about beat, tempo and how music can represent creatures in the water.

For maths the children are considering number, place value and how numbers are represented.  As part of our history topic the class have looked at chronological events and talked about what they can recall of their own past.  Currently they are making some memory boxes.  For science we are considering the seasonal changes now and throughout the year.
