Before half term, class 2 were involved with a project run by Tesco called ‘Farm to Fork’ and some representatives from the local Hereford store came into school to deliver a healthy eating workshop with the children.  They had the opportunity to taste different fruit and to describe the taste, before exploring the importance of eating as many portions of fruit as possible in a week.  All children left with a goodie bag and well done to pupils who completed their booklets over the half term week off.

In maths, pupils have been using the inverse rule to solve problems involving addition and subtraction.  They have started the new half term by counting in various multiples and completing missing number sequences. Children will move on to measures next.  This will include practical activities involving capacity and weight.  Pupils will develop their understanding of reading scales, estimating and measuring various quantities and ordering quantities from smallest to largest.

In English, pupils had a visit from a local poet before half term who helped the children write their own shape poem based on a specific food item.  There were some wonderful ideas generated in the workshop and all pupils had a successful afternoon writing their poem.

In science, children have been creating their own food chains for different habitats and identifying which animal(s) is the prey, predator, a herbivore, carnivore and omnivore.

In topic, children have been designing their own death masks and will explore why Egyptians undertook the ritual of mummification.

In Spanish, pupils have been continuing to learn vocabulary for clothing and colours.
