Class 2 – Class Surveys, Comic Strips and Creating Timelines!

Class 2 Great Fire of London Oct 2020
In maths, children have been interpreting information from a range of tables, bar charts and pictograms.  They have been presenting data in various ways and conducting class surveys of their own. Pupils have continued to make good progress in their times tables and basic skills this half term.
In English, pupils have written a comic strip and made appropriate inferences on a picture.  They have investigated compound words and time connectives in SPAG sessions.  Children will write another character description in their hot writing task soon.
In science, children have investigated how sound travels and have helped to set up an experiment to show how sound waves make nearby air particles vibrate from the sound being made to our eardrum.
In topic, pupils have created a timeline of the events of the Great Fire of London.  They have explored when, where and how the fire originated and the landmarks it engulfed back in 1666. Children have identified why the fire was able to spread so rapidly in the capital and have discussed its devastating consequences.
In art, pupils have painted a silhouette of London burning in the Great Fire using watercolours, pastels and black paper.
In RE, children have read the Creation Story and discussed its religious significance to Christians.
In French, pupils have learnt new vocabulary relating to colours.
