Class 1 Understand Diwali

Class 1 have been learning about Diwali and how it is celebrated. Diwali is the Hindu festival of lights and is celebrated over 5 days. Those that celebrate decorate their homes with ‘diyas’ or oil lamps, candles and lanterns. The celebration is also marked with fireworks and the decoration of floors with ‘rangoli’ designs and long strips of colourful fabric called ‘jhalar’.
