Class 1 have started this term looking at different areas in the world which have a jungle or rainforest. Â The children are really enjoying studying these locations and comparing them with the seasons and weather in the UK. Â We are reading lots of books about the rainforest and listening to fictional stories about some of the animals that live there.
Our main text for our writing is ‘How the tortoise got his shell’ and the class are beginning to invent their own version changing the animal and how they change.
In maths the class are looking at using their counting in 2’s, 5’s and 10’s to solve problems and how we use these skills when handling money.
Our mini science investigation into greenhouses continues and how they are effective at growing plants.  The class have planned an experiment in science to germinate sunflower seeds in their mini greenhouses and are now going to build another version using straws and other materials.  We will then compare which greenhouse is the best using observations.
