We have been very busy baking and doing lots of lovely activities in Class 1.  The children loved exploring the recent visit from a hands-on natural history museum as part of our science work. They all had the chance to explore everything from bones to shells and fossils to teeth.  After that they went outside to look for bugs and evidence of living things in our school grounds and were delighted when they uncovered ‘hairy snail’ and shield bugs.  The children were fascinated to use the magnifying equipment to take closer looks at the different creatures they found.

In maths the class have been learning how to use number facts to subtract more efficiently in Year 2 and in Year 1 they have used counting back.  Reception have looked at the composition of numbers, finding how many ways a number can be partitioned.  In English the children have explored further the use of adjectives to describe settings and went on a walk to explore the local area.  Year 2 are writing the model text for The Owl Who Was Afraid Of The Dark and embellishing it by adding more interesting vocabulary.  As part of our topic, we have looked at how fire engines over time have developed and created some scrolls for town criers at the time, to spread news of the fire.
