Class 1 have written some fabulous newspaper reports on the Titanic sinking using all their knowledge from our history topic activities. They have also written very emotive diary entries from the point of view of a survivor of the tragic event.
Reception are learning lots of sounds and can blend some simple words using these sounds. We are looking to spot initial sounds and final sounds in words with these sounds in.
In maths Year 2 are further developing strategies to add and subtract using both mental and written methods. Reception can represent the numbers up to 5 and are using Numicon to find ways to make the values 2,3,4, and 5.
In science the class made a cloud in a jar and have conducted an experiment into climate change and the effect of greenhouse gases.
For part of Black History month, the class created some artwork portraits based on the artist Brianna McCarthy and looked at the life of Katherine Johnson and her role at NASA.
For Diwali the children watched KS2 tell the story using shadow puppets and made Diwali lamps and Rangoli patterns using natural resources.
