Class 1 are busy learning all about the history of flying and have created hot air balloons after finding out about the Montgolfier brothers balloon flights. Â They were fascinated to find out they sent up animals first to test their balloon. Â
In science we are investigating how materials can be used for different purposes and will be testing their properties and suitability next. Â
In music we are looking at how instruments can be used to represent animals from Africa and the children accompanied a piece of music with elephants, monkeys, zebras, rhinos and lions. Â
In design technology the children have finished creating a chair for a toy bear to sit on and found that cylindrical legs were the most stable. Â In art the class are investigating colour mixing.
The year 2 children have been practically using money in shops and finding coins and change in some problem solving activities. Year 1 are working on building their skills in place value. In English we have had a great time writing and looking at the text Kissimmee and the Greedy dragon. The children have been developing their vocabulary to describe the mood of a setting to help build suspense in their writing.
