Class 1 are really enjoying investigating explorers from the past.  This week we have looked at Christopher Columbus and discussed what he discovered and how he made a mistake when he was trying to find China.  The class also touched on the positive and negative aspects of his exploration and had a great class discussion.

In science the class have set up an experiment to find out how plants grow and if you can grow a plant from different parts of a plant such as a leaf, root or cutting.

In computing the class are looking at creating digital images and in design technology they have been making moving storybooks based on a familiar nursery rhyme.

The whole class have enjoyed the text in English for ‘The Papaya that Spoke,’ and have created their own versions changing the main character and the objects that spoke.

In maths year 1 and 2 have investigated fractions,  finding fractions of shapes and numbers of objects. Year 2 considered what is a unit fraction and a non-unit fraction and have found 3/4 of amounts.

Reception are amazing, confidently recognising phase 3 sounds they are learning and using these successfully in their writing. In art we have explored woven creations and the children made some beautiful pieces of art.
