Class 1 are really enjoying investigating explorers from the past. Â This week we have looked at Christopher Columbus and discussed what he discovered and how he made a mistake when he was trying to find China. Â The class also touched on the positive and negative aspects of his exploration and had a great class discussion. Â
In science the class have set up an experiment to find out how plants grow and if you can grow a plant from different parts of a plant such as a leaf, root or cutting.
In computing the class are looking at creating digital images and in design technology they have been making moving storybooks based on a familiar nursery rhyme. Â
The whole class have enjoyed the text in English for ‘The Papaya that Spoke,’ and have created their own versions changing the main character and the objects that spoke. Â
In maths year 1 and 2 have investigated fractions, Â finding fractions of shapes and numbers of objects. Year 2 considered what is a unit fraction and a non-unit fraction and have found 3/4 of amounts.
Reception are amazing, confidently recognising phase 3 sounds they are learning and using these successfully in their writing. In art we have explored woven creations and the children made some beautiful pieces of art.
