From 8th to 17th March 2024 the nation celebrates British Science Week, focusing on science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM). Whilst we will be covering these areas in our school lessons, we thought that our pupils might be interested in getting involved in some of the activities that the organisers have facilitated from home. These events include:
- Question Time (British Science Week edition). This is a panel event looking into young people’s concerns about the future and the role of science, society and policy to address these. The discussion takes place on 7th March and is being aired on YouTube at 6.45pm.
- Nature’s Calendar Webinar. This is a list of natural seasonal events and their timings. The list consists of almost 3 million records and spans 3000 years! If you want to take part in the webinar it will be held on Thursday 14th March at 6pm.
- Big Plastic Count. Between 11th and 17th March households, organisations and businesses will come together to count their plastic waste. The investigation will reveal how much plastic is being thrown away and what really happens to it afterwards.
