In English we have started our new topic which is advertisements and have begun identifying persuasive words used in various examples.  We have created a text map of a leaflet advertising a day trip to a farm park and studied the features of this specific genre.  Children will be looking at a magazine advertisement next and commenting on how effective it is as a piece of persuasion.
In maths, pupils have recalled multiplication facts to specific times tables and completed missing number calculations.  Year 3’s have learnt a new grid method for multiplication and had opportunities to practice this.  Children will soon move on to mental division next and learn the quick recall of these facts.

In science, pupils have looked at the contribution Edward Jenner made to the use of vaccinations in society and what impact it has on eradicating certain diseases.  They have recently started their new topic on plants by identifying the different parts of a plant and commenting on their function.

In RE, children are reading and discussing stories from the Gospel and reflecting on what it tells us about Jesus.

In art, they have designed their own laurel/olive wreaths to symbolise the award given at the very first olympics.
In French, pupils have learnt new vocabulary related to the days of the week.
In topic, children have reflected on what they already know on the summer Olympic Games and thought of what they would like to find out this term.  They have watched the promotional video advertising the Tokyo Games and created their own Olympic torch.  They will move on to identifying the world’s continents next and how they relate to the logo of the Olympic Rings.
