Over the last couple of weeks in class 3 we have been focussing on adventure stories. We have written our own stories, learnt a story as a group through story mapping and have acted out a story using a playscript. We have looked at and created our own curious creatures as a way of learning about how animals are classified by taxonomists in science and have continued to learn about the transition through from the Stone Age to the Iron Age. In art, we have been looking at LS Lowry and the techniques he used in his art. We have practised in our art books, then moved onto cardboard boxes (as Lowry himself did for some of his early paintings). We will be finishing by creating our own versions on canvasses which the children will be able to bring home.
As things are a little bit rubbish at the moment, with us being in another lockdown, I decided that we all needed a little bit of fun on a Friday afternoon. Therefore, every Friday for the last hour, I become the Taskmaster (if you haven’t seen the TV programme, this will make no sense to you…look it up!!) The children compete in groups to complete challenges that I set…I then score them based on how they have done. It is great way of improving communication skills, teamwork and resiliency…plus, it is fun! There may be some home tasks thrown in, so be on your guard ready for those!
