Reception are now settled in and already learning some sounds. They have been counting and looking at the surrounding area of the school to spot changes and investigating different plants that are seen in Autumn.  The year 1 children have written the story of Goldilocks using their talk for writing and story maps to help them recall the language used in the story.  The class have been using adjectives to describe and year 1 have looked for alternative adjectives too!  In science the class have studied the apple tree in our outside area and learnt about the life cycle of an apple tree.  They have also looked at an investigation into the changing light levels here and further north and have made their own experiment to see how the sun’s path changes over a period of time.

In art the class have been using the primary colours to create different colours.  For our topic work the whole class have learnt how objects around the home and houses have changed over time…..even common objects in schools!  We have had the opportunity to read and share lots of stories in class together and answer questions about the story plot, words used and make predictions.
