The whole school have enjoyed sessions of gardening over the past few days.  With Mrs Meredith at the helm the children have cleared out the pond and pond area, cut back over grown shrubs, tidied the fence line and cleaned out overgrown planters. We have unearthed numerous bulbs which the children have then re-planted in fresh compost ready for what we hope will be a wonderful show in the spring.  Mrs Meredith has donated several plants and shrubs which have now been planted out in the planting boxes.  The whole area looks amazing and that’s down to all the hard work put in by the children and staff.

In addition to gardening, the children have walked around the village collecting rubbish from the roadsides and hedgerows. In total the school collected a large rubbish bag full of litter from within just the local lanes. The children loved wearing ‘hi-visibility’ jackets and using the litter pickers.  They have learned first hand about the effects of not disposing of rubbish responsibly and the implications for wildlife.

We thought that you would like to see pictures of the hard work undertaken by the children and staff…. with a special thank you to Mrs Meredith in particular.
