In maths, children have been identifying, reading and writing fractions of a whole and of a shape.  They have calculated a half and quarter of an amount, as well as identifying when shapes have been split into tenths.  Year threes will move on to recognising various fractions on a number line and add and subtract fractions with the same denominator.

In English, pupils have been using appropriate conjunctions in sentences and marking in the apostrophe in contraction words.  Children have carried on with their topic on persuasive texts by writing a monologue on a particular subjects, as well as improving an advertisement with stronger persuasive words.

In topic, children have looked at aerial photography of Spain’s topography and created their own 3D models of the country’s landscape.  We will move on to studying traditional Spanish music next.

In French, pupils have learnt new vocabulary associated with the weather.

In science, children have started to look at plants and identified the different parts of a flowering plant, as well as describing their various functions.  We will look at the conditions required for plants to grow well and investigate how water is transported in a plant.

In RE, pupils will be looking at special places this term.
