Over the last few weeks, the children in class 3 have learnt a new model text in English. They are focusing on persuasive writing and have learnt a text about having play stations in school. They are using this to create their own persuasive versions, coming up with having slippers in school, beds in school and even pets. They have used the structure and vocabulary learned from the text to help create these adapted versions. This week they are creating their own piece of persuasive writing.
In maths the year 5 and 6 children have been focusing on linear sequencing and finding the nth term in a sequence of numbers, by creating and using a formula. This has been challenging at times for them but I have been really proud of the way they have persevered with this area of maths and have come to successful conclusions. The year 4 children have been looking at angles. Learning to recognise the different types and understanding how to use a protractor accurately to draw and measure angles.
The children have started a new topic on forces and have already considered what a force is and how it can act in different directions to result in movement. They have measured forces using Newtons and they are currently planning experiments into how friction and gravity can change the motion of a vehicle on different ramps.
