Class 1 are busy learning all about the history of flying and have created hot air balloons after finding out about the Montgolfier brothers balloon flights.  They were fascinated to find out they sent up animals first to test their balloon.

In science we are investigating how materials can be used for different purposes and will be testing their properties and suitability next.

In music we are looking at how instruments can be used to represent animals from Africa and the children accompanied a piece of music with elephants, monkeys, zebras, rhinos and lions.

In design technology the children have finished creating a chair for a toy bear to sit on and found that cylindrical legs were the most stable.  In art the class are investigating colour mixing.

The year 2 children have been practically using money in shops and finding coins and change in some problem solving activities.  Year 1 are working on building their skills in place value.  In English we have had a great time writing and looking at the text Kissimmee and the Greedy dragon.  The children have been developing their vocabulary to describe the mood of a setting to help build suspense in their writing.
