Over the past few months we have updated the website with lots of information relating the importance of school attendance. This has included advice on when a child should be kept at home it they are ill and the effect of absence on a child’s learning.
Our whole school attendance is currently 96.19% with Class 1 achieving 96.37% and Class 2 96.04%. Well done everyone!
It is also important the children arrive for school on time so they have a settled transition into the classroom where they are then fully ready to learn. We appreciate that there are sometimes exceptional circumstances where a child is late to school but minimising these occasions is important as cumulatively late arrivals can translate into substantial periods of lost learning. Late arrivals through the main reception door can be unsettling for the arriving child and also disruptive for the class as a whole.
Arriving late can affect your child’s attendance as the school records and monitor late arrivals. Every minute counts! Over a school year as little as 5 minutes late each day = 3 days lost and this obviously has a negative effect on learning outcomes.
Thank you to all our parents and carers who ensure that their children are on time to school.
