Space, Rockets and Experiments in Class 1

Class 1 have been busy in science doing experiments on different materials to test for absorbency.  The class collected and tested different materials and used measuring to find the most absorbent material.  In maths we have been looking at shape and then moved onto place value where we have looked at different representations for numbers up to and beyond 20.  In our writing we have been inventing our own version of Whatever Next and using talk for writing to plan and write making changes to the original story.  For art we have created some different space images using paint and wax.  In addition the class have been making rockets using nets of cylinders and cuboid and adding their own detail such as wings and the rocket boosters.  As part of our RE topic this term we have been looking at how some religions prepare for Christmas, including advent wreaths and the nativity.
