The BBC’s ‘500 Words’ is the UK’s largest children’s writing competition for children aged 5-11 and it is open for entries now and until it closes at 9pm on Friday 8th November 2024.
We know many of our parents like to support their children’s learning at home and this is an excellent way to spend a few hours together encouraging your child/children to imaginatively create their own story and submit it for them online.
The following link takes you to the 500 words website where there is a 30 minute live lesson and full details of how and where parents can submit their child’s stories (one per child). The competition is a celebration of children’s creativity, so stories will not be marked on spelling, grammar or punctuation.
If your child would like to bring their story to school when it is complete for us to share in class we would be delighted.
