In literacy, children have been identifying the features of information texts and reading lots of examples of this style of writing. They have written their own sub – headings to match paragraphs and explored their overall purpose for the reader. Pupils will be adapting the model text next with their own ideas.
In maths, pupils have focussed on mental addition, in particular using number bond strategies to calculate given questions. Children will move on to using more formal, written methods for addition next.
In science, children have tested the properties of different rocks including their density, permeability and durability. They have grouped and classified rocks according to their physical properties.
In French, pupils have recapped vocabulary associated with counting to 10 and colours.
In topic, children have researched the tsunami of 2011 in Japan. They have investigated the cause of the tidal wave and the devastating effects it had on the country and its people.
