News from Class 1… Spring, Science and Subtraction!

News from Class 1… Spring, Science and Subtraction!

Class 1 have been exploring the changes around them as we see Spring coming!  The class have created poems to describe spring.  In maths we have finished working on understanding how we compare and measure length, mass and capacity.  The children are currently revising how to represent calculations involving addition and subtraction and have considered some real- life problems, involving these methods.  For science we have been looking at how plants grow and have started an experiment to see how a runner bean grows by planting our own seeds.  The class are very interested in nature and we have been looking at the various plants associated with this time of year.  For art we have completed some great art work on our topic of transport and have just created some surreal art that is amazing!  As part of our RE focus this term we have been looking at how people celebrate Easter.  We are also currently considering ways to keep fit and healthy looking at food and exercise as well as linking into our work on mental health and our feelings.
