Class 2 News – Sun Safety, Time Intervals and the Northern Lights

Northern Lights pastel drawing 1In maths, children have continued with their work on time.  They have been converting one unit of time into another and sequenced different intervals of time. This unit concluded with pupils working out simple duration of events and activities.  We will recap learning on place value and fractions to the end the term.

In English, children have been writing their information text on a polar animal.  Pupils have included facts, pictures, diagrams and sub – headings in their work to organise and structure content coherently.  We will round off the year with some SPAG activities to recap previous learning and consolidate spelling patterns already taught.

In topic, children have drawn spectacular pictures of the Northern Lights with pastels to create the aurora borealis.  In computing lessons, pupils have researched this phenomenon and will be using IPADS to create mini presentations which explain this spectacle to others.  Pupils will then write a poem of their own on the Northern Lights.

In PSHE, we will be looking at the importance of sun safety and what we can do to stay safe in the sun.
